RhizoLoc stabilizes the carpometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb after injuries to the lateral ligaments, surgery, and in cases of osteoarthritis. The individually shapeable aluminum stay immobilizes the thumb in opposition position. This position reduces muscle pull and relieves the strain on the injured or overstrained lateral ligaments. The immobilization of the thumb relieves pain immediately. During the course of therapy, the mobility of the upper metacarpophalangeal joint can be released step by step via a custom Velcro tab. The orthosis is opened via Velcro fasteners and can be easily put on and taken off with one hand. The strap ends with an integrated pull-back stop device allow the fastenings to be secured quickly and without much effort. This feature is particularly practical in everyday life and for therapy purposes, e.g. wound checks or for physiotherapy exercises. The breathable material with integrated pores allows air circulation around the underlying skin. The orthosis is available in two versions for the right and left thumb.
